Yesterday was the beginning of the first Iron Banner of Season 11, and with it I decided to start my grind once again on my least favorite character. It had been a few seasons since I last participated in Iron Banner, but when I last did it involved a quest line that required you to do a bunch of weapon based kill quests on each character. I figured I would devote last night to trying to get the Hunter through the quest and then work on the Warlock and Titan on following evenings. However it turns out that has all changed and there is now a single simple quest that involves killing 25 folks with sidearms and another 25 with auto rifles. The reward for this is getting the new seasonal copy of an auto rifle and a sidearm. While the old quests were a bit of a slog, it was nice because you wound up with a full set of armor and a random roll for each individual weapon that would be dropping. This felt pretty good because if you got a shitty drop on one character you might get an amazing drop when you get over to the next character. Example right now I have gotten a single drop of The Forward Path and it is truly heinous. Essentially it is an auto rifle without any range or impact with all of the stability and handling you could ever want which seems extremely bad.

Destiny 2 hits new Crucible player record after Bungie disables SBMM

The Crucible is the player vs. The Crucible will sometimes randomly reward players after matches, regardless of rank after the game, while players can also purchase weapons from the Crucible Quartermaster as well as Armor and Shaders from Lord Shaxx and Lord Saladin. The mode returns in Destiny 2 , but the player cap was been reduced to 8 players at launch, but was later raised to 12 in all quickplay and Iron Banner modes.

Bungie recently left the grasps of Activision and has since promised that Destiny 2 , and the franchise as a whole, will be changing. The first of which are changes to the matchmaking system in the Crucible, the return of Lord Saladin in the first Iron Banner, as well as resolving issues in Niobe Labs. First off, Destiny 2 Competitive will go offline on the 15th of January at 6pm UK time, which means 7pm locally.

The changes to the Crucible will see players being pit against players closer to your Glory rank rather than power level. Iron Banner will return on the 15th of January as well, and will also see Lord Saladin make a re-appearance. Iron Banner will stop on the 22nd of January, and along with new weapons, you can expect a Valour Bonus as well.

For Forsaken owners, Supers will be receiving a damage buff, some more significantly than others. These changes are the start of a process, Bungie added, where they will also be re-working individual perks. The video below looks at the upcoming changes to Destiny 2: Forsaken. Destiny 2: Iron Banner

Bungie launched a matchmaking update for Destiny yesterday and already has another in the wild after taking some feedback. Bungie is requesting more feedback on this matchmaking update, but has some good news about the one that launched yesterday:. Match-ups are still close enough to provide the level of challenge demanded by the Iron Lords. Matchmaking time between games is less than a minute, on average.

Destiny 2: Niobe Labs solved, matchmaking modifications within the works, Iron Banner returns subsequent week. 12 Jan Games · No Comments. 5.

The blood-flecked Iron Banner hangs over Destiny once more, this time with hopefully better matchmaking. Bungie tested out the new competitive multiplayer connection settings in the Control playlist over the weekend, and apparently they worked out well enough to form the new backbone of Destiny’s week-long PvP event.

Put simply, the new matchmaking settings put more emphasis on connection quality. That means you should get fewer laggy matches, likely with people who are geographically closer to you. It also means there may be greater skill discrepancy between players. Bungie says there are still ” minimal filters ” to keep newbies out of the line of elemental exotic fire, but it’s no longer the primary concern in the new system.

The new “Damage Referee” will also be in effect, which through various methods of applied space magic is intended to make players with worse connections have less of a paradoxical advantage over their competitors – those frustrating moments when a laggy player jerks out of your super ability and presses a shotgun to the back of your skull. The tweaks sound a little intimidating, but they do line up well with Iron Banner’s more laissez-faire approach to power differentials.

Playing well and advancing in Iron Banner ranks will let players loot or purchase new helmets and gauntlets for each class, including PlayStation exclusive pieces, and a new Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher. The Crucible is the player vs. player game mode in Destiny and Destiny 2. Also, Crucible bounties can be completed in Iron Banner matches, whereas Iron All players will receive their end of match rewards and return to matchmaking.

That’s twice the amount of people playing Strikes, Nightfall, Raids, or Gambit. For comparison, if we look back at July of , the PVP population was k, less than half of what it is today. So while there was an increase, it should also be considered that this is a new season where everybody is trying to hit the new max power level.

Especially now that skill-based matchmaking has been turned off. For most events in Destiny 2, I like to play solo. But as a competitive player with a paltry 0. The balance definitely felt off in solo play thanks to the abandonment of skill-based matchmaking, with no new system to replace the old flawed one.

I swear, it’s taking forever. I know people are playing, but is literally every single person going in with a 6-stack? It’s literally taking me

The only modes that still have it are Survival and Elimination. PC Gamer outlined the reasoning behind this sudden change:. Just listen to the perfectly reasonable users of Twitter dot com. Iron Banner has always been a time that PVE focused players prioritized playing crucible with friends and put raids on hold for a week. It was always something to look forward to and was a great social experience and added variety to the game. Until today. This is terrible. When will people realise that the ‘sweats’ they are facing in IB are due to lobby balancing NOT the absence of sbmm.

If you’re getting shit on every game it’s because you’re either up against 1 really good player or multiple above average players.

Destiny 2 Iron Banner New Perks and Weapons Guide

On June 11, the Destiny developers made a big call for their long-standing title. They flipped the switch on skill based-matchmaking, which has been one of the most controversial topics in gaming over the past few years.
